New podcast episode: What you can expect from taking USU Extension's remote work professional course

In this episode of Remote Work Radio, our host Marta Nielsen interviews Trenton Willson, the Regional Program Coordinator in Central Utah for USU Extension's Rural Online Initiative program. Trenton is a founding team member of the program and helped get the Master Remote Work Professional (MRWP) course off the ground in 2018. Today, he plays a critical role teaching and coaching rural residents of Utah as they learn remote work skills and find their first remote job. He explains the structure of the course, what you can expect after enrolling, and provides insights into what it takes to be successful in the course and in your remote job search.

What: Come meet the USU Extension Remote Online Initiative representatives in your area and learn how to jump-start your career!


The purpose of the Rural Online Initiative (ROI) program is to provide Utah’s rural workforce and businesses with education, training, and services for online opportunities in remote employment, freelance work, and e-commerce. This short meeting will help you begin the ROI program process, during which you will be connected to online training and employment opportunities!

2022 LEAD Rural Utah (Virtual Youth Leadership Event)

When: Tuesday, August 2, 2022 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM MDT

Where: Virtual | Zoom
Who: For incoming 9th-12th grade students in rural Utah

What:
The Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs (MCA) invites multicultural rising 9th-12th graders to LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, and Development) Rural Utah.

Learning Incentive: The first 50 registered students will receive a $50 learning incentive from the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs for attending the entire event. After the event, we will verify each student’s attendance. A follow-up email will be sent requesting their legal name and mailing address.

Open remote positions within the State of Utah

Administrative Assistant 

Join the Utah Department of Health and Human Services to help support the Office of Fiscal Operations and  and Internal Audit  offices with administrative tasks. This position is hybrid which provides a lot of flexibility.

Business Analyst 

The office of state debt collection boasts a strong team atmosphere with work that is challenging and face-paced. You will act as the business system administrator to ensure that end-user processes run correctly and work with the Department of Technology Services on programming needs and upgrades.

USU creates webpage to help people combat inflation

USU Extension said it created the inflation resources webpage in order to help people navigate rising costs.
Resources include a guidebook on cutting expenses, links to financial tools and a section answering common financial questions. Links to other USU Extension resources about free family activities and estate planning are also included.
The webpage also offers a calendar listing free inflation webinars.
